Funny, on the stemmon's aerial, it looks like the proposed turtle creek blvd turns south, and not west to tie into Bernal.
On a related pie-in-the-sky note, wouldn't it be interesting if a bridge was added to extend turtle creek or oaklawn to coronet blvd/bataan? Reason why, is the COD Design Studio proposed cutting bataan under the T&P railroad to fort worth ave.

Does anyone know anything about a methodist church that existed in the 1880's on Chappell Street (between what is now IH30 and Fort Worth ave). It moved to Neal Street and changed its name to Wetern Heights Methodist, then moved to Colorado and Hampton in the 40's I think. Eventually was closed in the late 1940's. I'm not sure what it's affiliation was early, but I think it was part of the UMC

We have been doing some research in the Florrie Wade collection at the Dal lib. I'll post some of what we discovered later. But does anyone know much about Florrie, where she did here reseach and such. We found a typed up version of a older bill of sale, so I was wondering where is that original hand written billof sale.

Yeah, i know how to look things up on dcad. i usually go through the map search. maps.dallascityhall.com is another one.
Anyway, I pointed out that building because it is parallel with the old rail line, like it belonged to the rail company. Though I admit I didn't look up that parcel on dcad.

Just noticed (on google earth) a house sitting at a diagonal to everything else but the old rail row. Near Michigan and Ohio.

i don't know...gives the politicians something to do i guess.
i wouldn't want a street in dallas named after me, it'd only be renamed in 70 years.

So the city is likely to rename part of loop 12 to Trinity Forest Blvd.
Got me thinking, who was Ledbetter named after?
I don't think the renaming applies to West Ledbetter.
And I didn't find any previous threads in the phorum.
DMN: East Ledbetter to be renamed

Maybe this defeats the purpose of reminiscing, but...
The 'XXX' is the prefix and generally corresponds to the first three letters of the central office name 941 = Whitehall.
I forget what the T-codes are, but i think they are AT&T facility codes.

I found it on google earth. you can see concrete structures in the river just south of the mccommas bluff park and west of lincoln funeral home cemetery. the house is on the east bank.
odd that it's not part of the park. it's owned by some independent methodist church that i can't find on the web except that some urban explorers say they had a run-in with the weird owner.

I checked with my mother (that really sounds odd), but I just help her with this sometimes.
Our Asa was born in 1817 in Madison, KY. They arrived in Dallas the late 1850s. They lived on cochran between lamar and carter (now law street) near the old cemetery he managed on the "North end of Houston". Interesting thing, my grandmother, the wife of Asa's grandson Sul Ross King, had a lu

Anyone know of a cemetery located on or around Corsicana road in 1869/1870?
A relative of mine said someone was buried over "on Corsicana" and implied that it was nearby. We thought he may have meant the city but then we discovered the street.

Anyone know anything about the cemetery at the north end of Houston street? It predates what I call the "old city"/pioneer /masonic/... cemeteries at/under the convention center. When it was closed around 1865-70, they created the city cemetery along Akard. Supposedly it was integrated because the freeman's cemetery at Central was started when it closed.
Anyway, I have an Asa William

Been working on this some lately. Wanted to see all the old trolley lines on a map (in comparison to the MTTA and proposed Oak Cliff loop) and I got carried away. The trolley lines are not complete - I've been working off old maps. I think my grandfather had that book on the interurban somewhere.
The map is open for collaboration.
