Back in the late sixties/early seventies I worked the North Oak Cliff area and during the very early morning hours, especially when there was no wind and very humid conditions, I would notice the ammonia odor around North Zang Boulevard/North Marsalis Avenue and East Colorado Boulevard and always felt it was coming from the dairy operation located nearby.
Amazing enough, if the wind was from

As of this writing I have lost nine (9) close friends and former co-workers to Covid 19 and have a cousin my age (76) that is losing the battle with the onset of pneumonia in addition to the Covid 19 Virus.
The sad part is none have been able to have a funeral service, although two were able to have a service via live streaming, something I now see more and more available through fun

Anybody have knowledge of when Bama Pies located on Pennsylvania Avenue near Fair Park ceased operations?
There is a lot of history on the original founders and their seven children who moved all over the United States apparently and began extensions of the original Dallas business. Remember one in Tulsa, Oklahoma on old Route 66 and if I recall there was one in Shreveport, Louisiana in the ar

Apparently there was a drought or other circumstance which forced them to depart the farm in or around 1926. The majority relocated in Oklahoma City, where the father obtained employment with the Rock Island Railroad. All the female children worked for Southweste

I am so sorry for your loss, after losing my wife of fifty two years I know the sadness and sorrow, the loneliness and this time of life with the scare of the virus and not being able to visit friends makes it even worse.
It took me 17 years of research to finally locate the cemetery where my grandfather is interred and several leads directed me to the cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma.

The old bridge I mentioned was replaced during the Arkansas River Navigation Project. The bridge between Webber Falls (never figured out where the falls were) and Gore had two small buildings at each end. If a truck needed to cross and was wider than the lane, a bridge tender (that was the title I was told and I saw a death notice from Gore describing the deceased as a former bridge ten

Dave, right after I retired from the Police Department, my wife and I visited the old farm. I could not remember the new name of the Community of Bidding Springs and the road off of State Highway 51, so I stopped at the Sheriffs Office in Stilwell.
I told them we lived directly west of the old Golda's Mill, a famous landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places and was informed it

I remember while living in a rural area of Adair County, Oklahoma in 1949 near the community of Bidding Springs, electricity was not available until after we moved to Oklahoma City. Propane was available and we had a SERVEL (may be spelled wrong) refrigerator that operated on propane, no light when you opened the door. Thanks Dave, will certainly look into your suggestions.
I am sure they will be much more helpful than local residents of a lot of rural counties that give directions like, "you go down this road to where the old Morris house was, it burned down in 1946, turn left there and go down to where the school bus stops and turn left there and keep on a going until you see a dried up creek then loo
