I grew up near Military and Pleasant Drive (I could see Forester Field out my back window). I never heard the term "Grovites" although we did proudly call ourselves "Grove Rats" (a term that I think goes back to the 50s if not earlier).
I know some who are anal about the definition of Pleasant Grove would say where I lived did not entitle me to call myself a Grove Rat, but

Sorry to resurrect a 14-year-old thread, but for those who are interested, there is a Facebook group about Bubbles Cash:
The group was created by Keiley Mynk who says she is Cash's daughter.
I don't intend to start a debate about the pros and cons of Facebook. Someone asked a question about her, and the FB group may provide some answers. That is my only intent in posting this.

When I was in elementary school at Annie Web Blanton back in the 60s, I remember each day opening with the Lord's Prayer and announcements.
My last year at Blanton was 1967. I also remember reading a grace at lunch while I was in junior high (John B Hood, 1967-1970) but I don't remember if there was a morning prayer. By the time I got to high school (WW Samuell) we were no longer reciting

When I attended John B Hood Junior High in the late 60s, the drill team was called the Southern Belles. I know the school changed nicknames sometime in the 80s and went from a junior high (7-8-9) to a muddle school (6-7-8). Do they still have drill teams in middle school these days?

There was a Cabell's on Bruton near Prairie Creek.
Back in the 60s I would walk over there in the mornings before school (Annie Webb Blanton was a block away) and buy those goofy sci-fi monster cards and some Sweet-Tarts before class. It later became a 7-11.
There was a book called "Oh Thank Heaven" that was a history of the Southland Corporation that came out in the 70s but

How many dealerships did Art Grindle have? I grew up in Pleasant Grove and I remember an Art Grindle dealership on Bucker Blvd. south of Bruton Road, near the location of a Horn-Williams Ford (not sure if that dealership is still there -- I haven't been back since the late 70s).

I grew up in Pleasant Grove in the 60s.
I remember seeing "One Million Years BC" starring Raquel Welch in 1966 at the Buckner Drive In (just north of the intersection of RL Thornton). I was in the 6th grade at the time and kinda nerdy. I recall the Echo I balloon satellite was scheduled to pass overhead that night so I spent much of the night looking up trying to find it.

@Morrow Mustang:
Collins was drafted by the Steelers; they must've traded him to the Cowboys at some point because he shows up in the Cowboys 1962 team pic wearing his familiar #49:
He apparently was injured at some point in the pre-season because he ended up on the Cowboys' "taxi-squad" (what's called the practice squad today). As far as I can tell, he never played again in
