Does anyone have any information on where exactly the 'St Elmo Saloon' was located in Dallas, in about 1873. It was owned by Charles Edward Buckland and Tom Cade from England.
Tom Cade also ran a saloon in 1883 at 311 Main Street. Perhaps 'Tom Cade's Saloon' and the 'St Elmo Saloon' were at the same location.
I'm interested to know where 311 Main Street would have been in relation to Doc H

I've found a record for a Thomas Cade that was born in 1835 in Hampshire, England. He is one of a family of 9 children all born in Hampshire, but in the 1861 Census they are all living together in Lambeth, London. This is about 3-4 miles from 'The Hen and Chickens' pub where Charles Buckland was living. His occupation is given as carpenter which leads me to believe that this is the right T

I am connected to the Buckland family through my mother Nora Buckland, 95 next birthday. I can trace the family back to John Buckland, born in about 1696 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. Both Charles Buckland and my mother are descended from him.
Jeremiah George Buckland was born in about 1807 in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. He and his wife had 9 children, Charles was the 3rd child, born in 18

I'll look these references up. Charles was back in England by 1877 with Maggie and one child, Jeremiah, born in Dallas in 1875. I guess they couldn't stand the excitement in Dallas! I suppose Charles sold his share of the St Elmo Saloon to Tom Cade.
They had 3 further children in London, but it seems Maggie died giving birth to the 3rd child in 1881. Charles took over his late f

It's a pity there's no reference to the St Elmo Saloon in the chapter on Dallas, but it's great to know my ancestor there at the same time as such an infamous character. If Doc Holliday ever worked on Charles' teeth, I hope he was sober at the time!
It would be good to know exactly where the saloon was, but I guess the site of 311 Main is a multi-storey office block by now.

Does anyone have any information on the 'St Elmo' saloon, that was at 311 Main St, Dallas in the 1870's? Its proprietors were Thomas Cade and Charles Buckland.
Charles Buckland from England married Maggie Brown from Ireland, in Dallas in 1872.
Thanks
