My favorite building downtown is the Purse Building at 601 Elm Street. I just love it- I don't know why. Does anybody have an fun anecdotes about the building, or know any bits of info? Also, the Record Street grill is attached to it- perhaps any info on that small diner? I want to do some research on the building pre 1970- so anything having to do with the building's early history would be great

Yeah. Actually I interviewed my friend Steve Porter for the Sixth Floor Museum's oral hsitory collection, because he was the Mohrenshildt's maintenance man back in the 1970's. He said they were always drunk and acting erratic.. and they had lots of dogs. The Sixth Floor Museum actually has a lot of sources on George Der Mohrenshildt, so if I were you I would defintely consider utilizing those. If

I am working on a research project that's about the Klan's history in Dallas. Does anybody know any specific stories about the Klan's activity in Dallas, that your grandparents may have told you? What was the Klan like in Dallas? Is this a good representation as how the Klan acted, nationally, or did each Klan act regionally-specific? What did the Dallas Morning News do to disparage Klan success

I hang out at the Texas Theatre all the time. They play old, vintage movies on 35 mm film, and even some newer movies that are just coming out. The kids who run it have a genuine appreciation for the building, its history, and the quality of movies they play. They also host events, and are quite successful in getting peopel of all ages to come out, have a drink and dance. My friend has an art gal

I will be visiting the Dallas Library soon, and the DHS archives, but I figured Iw ould ask the phorum as well: Is anybody familiar with the warehouse building off of 2108 Main. It's between Main and Commerce, near Cesar Chavez. My friends and I rummaged around in it yesterday, while a bunch of construction workers were renovating. The building apparently dates back to 1915, and is two stories wi

Has anybody heard a rumor of the old Texas Women's Museum being haunted by the wife of a Dallas-based Klan member?

What was your favorite club to go to in Dallas? What are extant, and what have unfortunately faded into obscurity? I miss the Bronco Bowl and the Longhorn Ballroom. What happened to the Sportatorium? Does anybody know about Frog Town? What about the development of what is now the Gayborhood off of Cedar Springs? Email me at leo12086@gmai&

Hello,
I am trying to figure out what is underneath Dallas. I hear rumors of old tunnels from the Prohibition era that bootleggers used. Also, are there tunnels underneath Fair Park? Do the tunnels connect to other tunnels, and where do they stop? I'm thinking of going down there, but I'm trying to find unknown access points, or at least find areas of the tunnels that are forgotten. Please emai
