I am from East Texas but my dad and I would make special trips to Johnny's to buy balsa model kits and supplies. We build all of the Guillow WWI airplanes. I remember that Paul Harvey commented on Johnny passing away on his noon news program. I never knew that Paul Harvey was a scale model fan.

Thank you Tim.
I have been looking for this all over the internet, You made my day.
It only took me 2 1/2 years to get back here to see your reply.
I had the privilidge of having my Dad as my best drinking buddy. He was only 21 years older than me. We hoisted cold brews all over Texas and some other minor states. He's been gone for several years and I've been having fits of major nostal

I suggest Ben Wheeler and Edom. They are not far From Terrell.
I drive home from Dallas that way every time I can. Google it. You will want to go. It's a great day trip.

Thanks Matthew.
If anyone can come up with that poem I will be appreciative. The gest of it was that "the Quiet Man" is still a gentleman "even when in his cups".
Thanks, Tom

The last drivein we went to in Dallas was on the east side of Central around Royal and Forest in the early '70's. We saw "Jeremiah Johnson" with my wife's sister and husband in their Jeep (with no heater). It was colder in Dallas that night that what was depicted on the screen with Robert Redford. BTW, the beer did not get hot.

There was a poem framed on the wall. The name was "The Quiet Man" (imagine that). This was back in the late '70's and early '80's.
It was searching for information about TQM that brought me here to this fo

New guy here.
I went to Johnny Clemmon's Hobby Shop on "lower Greenville" in the 60's when I was a kid. We lived in Longview and my Dad and I would go to Johnny's to by Guillow's balsa WWI flying models.
I remember Paul Harvey announcing Johnny's passing sometimes in the 1970's.
