On This Date (May 02) 1983, a wife lost a husband, his two daughters lost a father, his father and mother lost a son, his brother and sister lost a brother, his grandparents lost a grandson and Dallas lost a Police Officer.
Officer Ronald Dale Baker, age 23, was shot four times, then ran over twice by the fleeing suspect's van as he questioned the two suspects who were acting suspicious in the parking lot of the Georgetown Apartments, 7600 block Daingerfield Drive.
Upon approaching the suspects, Officer Baker was attacked by both suspects and his weapon taken, this is the weapon that was utilized to shoot Officer Baker.
Officer Baker was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital and pronounced Dead On Arrival.
The investigation led to the identification of the two suspects involved, Vernon Morales and Rosemary Concilio. The investigation continued and the probable location of the suspects at a rural home in Arkansas was discovered.
When apprehension was attempted at this home, both suspects committed suicide
