Anyone recall that place? Just saw a postcard of it.
It was on Highway 80 or 1736 Ft. Worth Ave.

There was quite a bit of debate in the 1930s and 1940s as to whether the Fort Worth Cut-Off or West Davis Street would be the primary route of US 80 / SH 1, and both designations show on various maps. The general consensus was the earlier routing of SH 1 and the Bankhead Highway across the Dallas-Oak Cliff (aka Houston Street) Viaduct to Zang to Davis would be the primary route and the later Fort Worth Cut-Off (aka Commerce Street Cut-Off) would be the alternate or business route. The two routes merge just west of Westmoreland and westward from there is currently signed TX 180 through Grand Prairie, Arlington and Fort Worth. From the mid-19th to the early 20th centuries it was known as the Fort Worth Pike.

The Last Frontier Motel was located on the south side of Fort Worth Cut-Off between the alignment of Vilbig Road and Navarro Street about one block west of the Western Heights Cemetery. Aerial photos show it survived into the 1970s. A Motel 6 now occupies the western portion of the property but a clump of woods on the east may hide some remnants of old driveways and foundations.
