Does anyone have any memories of/stories about Texas humorist Boyce House? He's the guy responsible for the little books of Texas jokes and tales in the 1940s and 1950s. ("I Give You Texas," "Tall Talk From Texas," "Texas Proud and Loud," etc.)
He had a syndicated humor column in more than 200 newspapers and a weekly Texas radio show. Ran twice for lieutenant governor. Very popular luncheon and after-dinner speaker. His bio in the Handbook of Texas online, but I'm hoping for any stories or recollections.
Ring any bells?
