Thanks Ernie, I can't read the article because the DMN has a paywall, but the headline has the name and the reason for calling it Oak Lawn Park is obvious.

Now, why wouldn't they call it "Hippie Park"? That would be appropriate, and appreciated (by some).

Hi Dave,
Right now they're calling it by its original name, Oak Lawn Park. I think it should be permanent, but there are other names being bandied about. The monument at Pioneer Cemetery is probably not going to last long, either. Everything changes, nothing stays the same (especially in Dallas).

the city changed it back to the original name "Oaklawn Park"

Had some good times at Lee Park. Instead of attending our senior prom in 1969 a few friends and I spent the night here. Luckily we were not found out by the police so we were able to enjoy ourselves.....higher than a kite...Lots of wandering around while bands played, too. Fond memories.

I do remember that Riverchon Park was a hangout for gay hookups. May be still....?
