My first experience in 1968 with a person under the influence of L.S.D. occurred at the Record Grill.
I was walking down the sidewalk (in uniform) for a court appearance and was dragged into the building by the cashier as a twenty year old male was in the process of what I would describe as a "Trip to Hell".
After a lengthly battle, I was finally able to get him handcuffed, but I was so out of breath I just sat on top of him. A rather large cook assisted me in taking my place as I finally was able to get up.
Asked to use the phone, called the dispatch office and requested two, two man units, to transport him to jail. I later learned upon arrival at the jail, they were directed to take him to Parkland Hospital for evaluation. The examining physician requested the handcuffs to be removed (MISTAKE) and the battle began again, but at least this time their were four to get him under control again.
