Which ponds and lakes in Dallas were formed by abandon Rock Quarries?

I am interested in finding out how the dammed ponds and small lakes in North Dallas were formed. I had earlier believed they were dammed creek beds for livestock. But I have learned at least one of them the Devonshire lake in the 1920's was originally an Austin Chalk Quarry. Does anyone have information on either of these topics.
How and Why were the small lakes formed by dammed creek beds in North Dallas formed?
Where were the early Rock Queries in North Dallas?

Thank You Teann
