I frequented the Goff's in Wynnewood Shopping Center long before Harvey Goff took over. A high school classmate (Kimball, '63) and good friend worked there. Kip's Big Boy was the place to be and be seen for Oak Cliff teenagers, but the food was inferior. Goff's was good, especially the burgers and the ice cream.
I used to go regularly, and took my dates there. The girl I dated most asked once if we could go to Kip's instead (I guess to be seen by the in crowd, which we weren't). We went, had the Big Boy burgers and fries, complete with thousand island dressing. Next time, I started to go to Kip's. She said, "Let's go to Goff's, they have better food."
I never experienced any guff from Goff's management, but that was before Harvey.
Does the new incarnation offer ice cream? Goff's peppermint ice cream was the best.
