I guess we need to start by saying how old we are. At just 67, I'm a youngster, I'm sure.

I'm not even close to the prize at a mere 58. I was born at an early age in Midland.

Born on a rainy Friday night in November, '40 at Methodist Hospital. It was a pretty good drive for my Mom and Dad from the intersection of Prospect and Skillman, but that was where Dr. Kilgore did all his deliveries.

Like Gene, I was not actually born in Tioga, but out in the country and Tioga was the closest town. Last summer I read a book about Gene and e-mailed the author as it was a good book and very factual. She replied and put me in touch with a lady who was Gene's secretary for years and we exchanged information about Gene's family and she sent me a couple of Genes movies on DVD and several CD's of his music, very nice lady. I knew all of Gene's relatives that were still around Cooke County when I was growing up. Gene was born in Cooke County next to Indian Creek Church and his grandfather was pastor there but he claimed Tioga as his home town, I think he might have went to high school there but did not graduate there.
